    Human Fear

    HUMAN FEAR

Consider this example. Lion is walking together with allied Balanar beside you. Then, suddenly, enemy Troll and Spectre come and try to kill both of them (assuming around mid game, and it's night). In a glance, Lion's side seems to be winning. However, after Lion casts Impale (hitting both) and Voodoo to Spectre, Troll activated Battle Trance and starts charging at Lion. Being a fragile Hero, Lion runs away. It is unfortunate that Lion runs too far, leaving Balanar surrounded by 2 enemy Heroes (perhaps Spectre is dying since she suffers from Void)

In that example, Lion's side should have won if only Lion would run around in circles instead of running away. If Lion runs in circles, yes, he will still get hits from Troll, but then Balanar can also hit Troll, maybe even together with Lion. This is just an example though, experienced players or arranged teams surely can do better.

This 'human fear' is what probably caused Lion to run away. Very often players run away from a fight while still having let's say over 60% HP. Even squishy Heroes can take another second to take some damage, making the attacker very vulnerable to allied attack, then run away at red HP. That, at the same time, encourages the attacker to push himself to kill the Hero, often getting himself killed in the end to the allies.

(of course, there are conditions to this. only do this if you are sure that you can escape safely. watch out for disables)

This kind of fear is to be taken advantage of when doing battles. Always try to target squishy casters, never target tanks -- if you do, then the enemy's tank has just done his job, we do not want that. Imagine a Zeus in the enemy team. Every about 2.5 seconds or so he can cast Arc Lightning and deal 11% of your current HP as magic damage. Tell your carry to target Zeus. Soon Zeus will back off and try to run away. Even if Zeus does not die, that running prevents him from unleashing his Static Field.

(smart Zeus should try to run and cast Arc Lightning alternatively. if Zeus dies too fast, then buy more HP etc.)

These are just few examples. Some other cases such as Sven with GS charging at a team (causing them to spread) or Bradwarden coming to protect an attacked ally (causing the attacker(s) to give up and run since they'll be stunned if Brad comes too close) and many more. There are just too many cases in DotA. Humans. Emotions do play a lot during games. This is one of their effects.

You just stated the exact reason why I fear my teammates more than my enemies when playing pub games. Supporters freeling from a gank is retarded to begin with, even more so when they have tons of health. Even more awesome is the lion who goes hex+impale during the time-span of 0.2 seconds, then replying with "INSANE IMPALE DAMAGE" or something similar, rather than making full use of disables. Or the FoD-last hit "OMG SORRY MISSCLIKEDZ".

Enough pub Lion rant; there really isn't a lot to fear (impossible to explain to people though). Not until Nevermore pops up in front of you from out of nowhere with a BKB in his arsenal is fear a factor.

I have no fear -_-, not at all. As long as I can get my items, I'll rape them with all my heart. I just need some few disablers (my allies) to kill anything on path. Don't worry, you'll just stomp them anyways.

Because it doesn't matter if your team lives in the jungle while the other team plays a synchronized game as long as you have items.

its more of a human psychology problem than human fear. when i notice someone scrolling 3 screens away to run away, never looking back as soon as he decides to run, i tap his shoulder and ask, 'what the fuck are you doing?'

the general response is that they're not as used to the game as me as they 'have lives' and 'dont spend all day playing dota'. But these people have been playing dota for over two years now, and keep coming back like the hypocrites they are. And have not improved to this date.

When you're convinced you're not part of the 'hardcore' crowd, you don't make any effort to improve, even when it's obvious what you need to do.

People a little more grown up in the head may make the mistake a few times, but after seeing the right way to do it, they will try to use what they have seen other people do. And after trying a few times, it becomes a part of them.

Similarly, a flaw you don't try to change will become a part of you. After two years, perhaps a permanent part.

    I lol'd to this statement and I agree .

But anyways, I'm the type of player that don't necessary pick good allies. As long as the mid is for me, then eventually they'll just have to quit one by one .

And then I assume the enemy team is equally bad.

No, they're just overated by me , in the case, I can say poor bottle mode + crow is a fucking delay so I can say their quite noob in the sense of first item. But hell, they're experienced when it comes to clash & ganks.
